Case Study: Air Products Jazan Project
The project is to provide an Air Separation Unit (ASU) for the proposed oil refinery in Jazan Saudi Arabia. Nortech were integrated as part of the client (Air Products) team to develop all of the services area through FEED to the 30% model review. The Nortech scope was as follows:
· Model and associated design for the modular construction of pipe bridges
· Preliminary design of road culverts
· Preliminary pipe stress runs for all pipework on the main racks including the 3m diameter cooling water main
· Conceptual design for site drainage system and firewater collection
The central pipe rack consisted of 10 modules up to 45m long, 10m wide and 13m high. They were designed to be constructed at an off-site facility and be transported to site on an SPMT with the pipe work preinstalled.
The 6 ASU plants were of identical design and standard module pipe bridges were designed. All pipework and steelwork was modelled and integrated into the Air Products master model. Preliminary stress analysis of all pipe routes was undertaken. Preliminary underground services routes and site levels / drainage requirements were developed. All of the work was integrated into the Air Products model and reviewed with the site owner at the 30% model review. Documentation was produced for construction and execution strategies and estimating purposes prior to detailed design.
